My method

Official sources first, corrections welcome.

  • I rely first on Paraguayan and international institutions (INE, Migraciones, SENATUR, MADES, BCP, UNESCO…) and cite every source at the bottom of the page.
  • Every article shows its last update date : information changes; the guide should show that.
  • We know what it's like to plan a move without knowing who to trust: I always distinguish what is verified, what still needs confirming, and I invite readers on the ground to correct me.

Before you go

The questions I get asked most.

Do I need a visa to travel to Paraguay?

No for French, Belgian, Swiss and Canadian nationals (tourist stay under 90 days). Passport valid 6 months after return. These rules change: check before booking.

Is Paraguay safe for a traveler?

Safe, with the usual precautions: keep valuables discreet, use official taxis, be cautious at night in border areas. More vigilance in certain neighborhoods of Asunción.

What budget should I plan per day?

€30 to €50 a day, all included. Among the lowest in South America.

"You should never have to guess before you leave. I rely first on official sources, I date every page, and I clearly say what I haven't verified on the ground yet."

Planning a move without knowing who to trust — I know that feeling. This guide is written from France while preparing my own move to Paraguay. It does not replace Paraguayan authorities or the experience of people who live there: it cites them, connects them, and improves when a reader flags an error. The goal is simple: verifiable, useful information that respects the real Paraguay.

What this actually changes

  • 453 sources cited: Paraguayan and international institutions, press, official data : at the bottom of each page.
  • An update date on every article: information changes; the guide should show that.
  • Public corrections welcome : especially from readers on the ground, professionals and institutions.

The figures cited refer first to Paraguayan institutions and consultable international references (INE, IMF, Numbeo, UNESCO, Insight Crime, World Bank, Itaipú Binacional…). Each data point remains attributed on the guide pages. This sourcing work does not replace authorities or local professionals: it highlights them.
