Plane ticket: play with dates and stopovers
A flight on a Tuesday or Wednesday usually costs between 15 and 20% less than a Friday or Sunday departure. Booking 2 to 3 months in advance remains the best price/flexibility compromise on this route without direct flights from Europe. Currency exchange: avoid double fees

Accommodation: aim for family guesthouses outside peak season
Family guesthouses, away from the tourist center of Asunción or Encarnación, often cost two to three times less than a chain hotel for comparable comfort. Local transport: bus before taxi
The urban and interurban bus network costs a fraction of the price of a taxi or rideshare, even for long trips between cities like Asunción and Encarnación. Food: eat where Paraguayans eat
Covered markets like Mercado 4 in Asunción and popular eateries offer full meals for a fraction of the price of tourist restaurants downtown, often with superior quality and freshness. Tereré and chipa bought on the street cost cents and are part of the local experience rather than a budget constraint.
