I built these itineraries from real distances, verified travel times on maps, and the must-sees mentioned in reference guides on Paraguay, not theoretical circuits drawn up at random. Each itinerary is modifiable: add or remove stages according to your pace and interests.

2 Weeks: In-Depth (Centre + South + East)
This itinerary adds the Eastern region (Itaipu, waterfalls) and an incursion into the North (Concepcion or Chaco) to the one-week route. It gives a more complete view of the country.
- 1Days 1-7: Follow the 1-week itinerary above, slightly compressing Asuncion (1.5 days is enough if efficient).
- 2Day 8: Bus Encarnacion > Ciudad del Este (4h). Afternoon: Saltos del Monday (10 min from centre, 2h visit).
- 3Day 9: Itaipu Dam (technical visit in the morning, 2h, free with reservation). Afternoon: Three Borders Landmark.
- 4Day 10: Option 1: Salto Cristal (hike, full day RT). Option 2: Shopping in Ciudad del Este. Night bus to Asuncion.
- 5Day 11: Asuncion > Concepcion (bus 5h). Arrival at lunchtime, stroll through the historic centre and river.
- 6Day 12: Concepcion: half-day river cruise on the Paraguay River. Wildlife observation.
- 7Day 13: Return to Asuncion (bus 5h) or extension to the Chaco (Filadelfia, +1-2 days).
- 8Day 14: Buffer + return flight.
3 Weeks: The Full Adventure (All Country + Chaco)
For travellers who want to see everything, this itinerary covers all 4 regions of the country, including the deep Chaco. Requires a 4x4 (rented) for the Chaco part, or flexibility with buses.
- 1Days 1-13: Follow the 2-week itinerary, then head north.
- 2Day 14: Asuncion > Filadelfia (bus 7h or 4x4 5h). Arrival late afternoon, settle in.
- 3Day 15: Filadelfia: visit to Mennonite colonies, museum, encounter with indigenous community. Night in same place.
- 4Day 16: Filadelfia > Defensores del Chaco National Park (4x4 track, 4-6h). Arrival at campsite, set up.

- 6Day 18: Return to Filadelfia (track 4-6h). Route north or return to Asuncion.
- 7Days 19-21: Progressive return to Asuncion + return flight. Allow 1-2 buffer days for the Chaco (breakdowns, rain).
Thematic Itineraries (Alternatives)
If you have a specific interest, here are specific variants built on the same principle.
- 1Gastronomy Itinerary (5 days): Asuncion (Mercado 4, Tierra Colorada, Lido Bar) > Piribebuy (chipa class) > Aregua (strawberries and ceramics) > Villarrica (vineyard). A festival of flavours in under a week.
